Museology and studies in museum history are not particularly popular research topics. For this reason, the conference that Csaba T. Szab\u00f3 organized on the centenary of the death of B\u00e9la Cserni, the notable archaeologist from Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \/ Alba Iulia in 2016, that was the first congress on the history of archaeology in Transylvania, was much welcomed by academia with 42 speakers participating. A few years later, as a sequel to the meeting held in Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \/ Alba Iulia, colleagues from the J\u00f3sa Andr\u00e1s Museum in Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za, Eszter Istv\u00e1novits and Attila Jakab organized an international conference on the history of museums on the 150th anniversary of the founding of their institution on November 11th\u201313th 2019 titled \u201eHow badly we need the so much desired palace of culture \u2013 Collectors, founders and museums in Eastern Europe in the 19th\u201320th century<\/em>\u201d. The conference paid homage to the museum founders of the 19th century, presenting the historic milestones of the continuing development of these institutions up to present day, through 20 presentations and 10 posters. Unlike the conference held at Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \/ Alba Iulia, the event at Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za focused not only on the history of archaeological research, but colleagues from various disciplines (including historians, ethographers and art historians) shared their experiences on museum history and museology. Speakers from several Eastern European countries participated on both symposia, including Russia, Romania, Serbia and Hungary. The proceedings from the conference at Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \/Alba Iulia were published in 2017 and the volume of Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za in 2020. The followup museum history event will be held in November 2021 in Szeged co-hosted by the J\u00f3sa Andr\u00e1s Museum of Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za and the Department of Archaeology at the University of Szeged, at least as a virtual venue. The upcoming conference titled \u201cWe should not, however, think that we are pioneers.<\/em>\u201d Museums on Troubled Waters in the Past and Today<\/em> shall explore the following questions: How did\/do collections and museums form? Where are they progressing? What were and what are crucial issues? What are the main types and classes, and what are the tasks and roles of each museum type (national, county level and municipal museums, exhibition spaces etc.) in the life of the community? How did museums help each other? How were\/are museum personnel trained? In the framework of the upcoming conference, similarly to the one held at Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za, 31 speakers from diverse fields will present their findings in this topic.<\/p>\n

\u201eRespect the past to understand the present and work on the future\u201d \u2013 in the spirit of this thought by Count Istv\u00e1n Sz\u00e9chenyi, we consider research conducted on the history of national and Eastern European museums and collections to be important. We hope that the upcoming conference in Szeged will prove a worthy successor to the initiative began at Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r \/ Alba Iulia and continued at Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Szab\u00f3 Csaba megszervezte Erd\u00e9ly els\u0151 r\u00e9g\u00e9szett\u00f6rt\u00e9neti konferenci\u00e1j\u00e1t, ahol negyvenk\u00e9t kutat\u00f3 tartott el\u0151ad\u00e1st. N\u00e9h\u00e1ny \u00e9vre r\u00e1, 2019-ben a gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri \u00f6sszej\u00f6vetel folytat\u00e1sak\u00e9nt a ny\u00edregyh\u00e1zi m\u00fazeum munkat\u00e1rsai, Istv\u00e1novits Eszter \u00e9s Jakab Attila a J\u00f3sa Andr\u00e1s M\u00fazeum fenn\u00e1ll\u00e1sa 150. \u00e9vfordul\u00f3ja eml\u00e9k\u00e9re 2019. november 11\u201313-\u00e1n \u201emennyire sz\u00fcks\u00e9g\u00fcnk van m\u00e1r az annyira \u00f3hajtott kult\u00farpalot\u00e1ra<\/em>\u201d\u00a0Gy\u0171jt\u0151k, alap\u00edt\u00f3k, m\u00fazeumok Kelet-Eur\u00f3p\u00e1ban a 19\u201220. sz\u00e1zadban<\/em>\u201d c\u00edmmel szerveztek nemzetk\u00f6zi m\u00fazeumt\u00f6rt\u00e9neti konferenci\u00e1t. A konferencia tisztelgett a 19. sz\u00e1zad m\u00fazeumalap\u00edt\u00f3i el\u0151tt, bemutatva az \u00e1ltaluk l\u00e9trehozott int\u00e9zm\u00e9nyek napjainkig tart\u00f3 fejl\u0151d\u00e9si \u00edv\u00e9nek legf\u0151bb mozzanatait 20 el\u0151ad\u00e1s \u00e9s 10 poszter keret\u00e9ben. A gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri konferenci\u00e1val ellent\u00e9tben Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1z\u00e1n m\u00e1r nemcsak a r\u00e9g\u00e9szeti kutat\u00e1s t\u00f6rt\u00e9nete ker\u00fclt f\u00f3kuszba, hanem sz\u00e1mos tudom\u00e1nyter\u00fclet m\u0171vel\u0151i (k\u00f6zt\u00fck t\u00f6rt\u00e9n\u00e9szek, etnogr\u00e1fusok, m\u0171v\u00e9szett\u00f6rt\u00e9n\u00e9szek) osztott\u00e1k meg tapasztalataikat a m\u00fazeumt\u00f6rt\u00e9net, muzeol\u00f3gia kapcs\u00e1n. Mindk\u00e9t szimp\u00f3ziumra Kelet-K\u00f6z\u00e9p-Eur\u00f3pa t\u00f6bb orsz\u00e1g\u00e1b\u00f3l \u00e9rkeztek sz\u00e9p sz\u00e1mmal el\u0151ad\u00f3k (p\u00e9ld\u00e1ul Oroszorsz\u00e1g, Rom\u00e1nia, Szerbia, Magyarorsz\u00e1g). A gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1ri konferencia el\u0151ad\u00e1saib\u00f3l k\u00e9sz\u00fclt tanulm\u00e1nyok 2017-ben, a ny\u00edregyh\u00e1zi k\u00f6tet pedig 2020-ban jelent meg. Folytat\u00e1sk\u00e9nt a ny\u00edregyh\u00e1zi m\u00fazeum \u00e9s a szegedi egyetem R\u00e9g\u00e9szeti Tansz\u00e9k\u00e9nek k\u00f6z\u00f6s szervez\u00e9s\u00e9ben 2021 november\u00e9ben, ha virtu\u00e1lisan is, de Szeged ad otthont a k\u00f6vetkez\u0151 m\u00fazeumt\u00f6rt\u00e9neti \u00f6sszej\u00f6vetelnek. \u201eNem szabad azonban azt gondolnunk, hogy az \u00fatt\u00f6r\u0151k mi vagyunk<\/em>\u201d \u2013\u00a0M\u00fazeumi gondok egykor \u00e9s ma<\/em>\u00a0c\u00edm\u0171 konferenci\u00e1n a k\u00f6vetkez\u0151 k\u00e9rd\u00e9sekre keress\u00fck a v\u00e1laszt: Hogyan j\u00f6ttek\/j\u00f6nnek l\u00e9tre gy\u0171jtem\u00e9nye, m\u00fazeumok? Milyen t\u00edpusai\/fajt\u00e1i vannak \u00e9s az egyes m\u00fazeumt\u00edpusoknak (orsz\u00e1gos, megyei hat\u00f3k\u00f6r\u0171, v\u00e1rosi, ki\u00e1ll\u00edt\u00f3hely stb.) mi a feladata, mi a szerepe a k\u00f6z\u00f6ss\u00e9g \u00e9let\u00e9ben? Hogyan seg\u00edtett\u00e9k egym\u00e1st a m\u00fazeumok? Hogyan folyt \u00e9s folyik a m\u00fazeumi szakemberek k\u00e9pz\u00e9se? A konferencia keret\u00e9ben, hasonl\u00f3an a ny\u00edregyh\u00e1zi rendezv\u00e9nyhez, sz\u00e1mos tudom\u00e1nyter\u00fclet 31 kutat\u00f3ja ismerteti ezen t\u00e9m\u00e1ban el\u00e9rt eredm\u00e9nyeit.<\/p>\n

\u201eTiszteld a m\u00faltat, hogy \u00e9rthesd a jelent, \u00e9s munk\u00e1lkodhass a j\u00f6v\u0151n\u201d \u2013 gr\u00f3f Sz\u00e9chenyi Istv\u00e1n ezen gondolat\u00e1nak jegy\u00e9ben fontosnak tartjuk a hazai \u00e9s ezzel p\u00e1rhuzamosan a kelet-k\u00f6z\u00e9p-eur\u00f3pai m\u00fazeumok, gy\u0171jtem\u00e9nyek t\u00f6rt\u00e9net\u00e9vel kapcsolatos kutat\u00e1sokat.
